DJ WOODY
DOUBLE WORLD CHAMP DJ
STYLES:
HIP-HOP & FUNK 'N' SOUL BEATS, SCRATCH SHOWCASE |
 |
|
|
DJ
Woody is one of the World's most respected Hip-Hop DJs and arguably
one of the most innovative and musical turntablists of his generation.
Responsible for the invention
of a host of turntablist techniques and groundbreaking
scratches, including his famous signature 'Woodpecker' scratch
- how many DJs have had US legend DJ Qbert on the telephone asking
for scratch tips?!
In 1999 Woody entered his first
DJ competition - reaching the finals of the UK DMC championships,
followed by 'battle'
title after title - 2000 2nd Place SEMC battle, 2000 2nd Place
ITF UK finals, 2000 4th place UK DMC Finals, 2001 Northern DMC
Champion, 2001 2nd place UK DMC Finals, 2001 UK Vestax Champion, 2001 UK ITF Champion,
2001 World ITF Champion, 2002 2nd place UK DMC
finals, 2002 UK Vestax Champion, 2002 World Vestax Champion . By 2001 Woody had
become officially the World's
most successful scratch DJ by gaining more major championship
titles than any of his contemporaries.
|
|
 |
|
|
At
the 'temple' of the scratch DJ, San Francisco, Woody made history
by becoming the first ever European DJ to win the coveted World
ITF Championship (International Turntablist Federation), following
in the footsteps of such legendary DJs as Babu (Dilated Peoples)
and A-Trak (World DMC champion, Kanye West DJ). The following
year saw Woody become 2 times World Champion when he stormed
the Vestax Extravaganza World Championship finals taking out
competition from 14 countries.
Unlike many scratch-happy turntablists
however Woody's roots lay firmly with an all-round DJ. With a
blend of funky, feel-good Hip-Hop he rocks the World'ss dancefloors
as effectively as he destroys opponents in DJ 'battles', sharing
the stage with many of musics biggest names including Eminem,
Black Eyed Peas, Cypress Hill, De La Soul and DJ Shadow. In the
last 5 years Woody has toured relentlessly in various incarnations
taking in South Africa, Venezuela, Brasil, India, Dubai, Trinidad,
Russia, Japan, China, Canada and virtually every country in Europe.?
In
2002 Woody was asked to join the US 'Superrappin' Tour' as the
only Brit alongside US Hip-Hop major players Madlib aka Quasimoto,
Wildchild and Declaime, providing American audiences with a rare
glimpse of the cream of UK turntablism.
The following year he joined UK Hip-Hop's most accomplished tour
the 'Russian Percussian' alongside UK super producer DJ Vadim
and vocalists Blu Rum 13 and Yarah Bravo. This touring
outfit was later to form Ninja Tunes' latest hip hop phenomenon
'One Self'. Described by the Times as "best newcomers of
2005", Woody recorded the perfect musical scratchscape to
compliment Vadims production on their 2005 debut LP 'Children
Of Possiblity'. The 'One Self' band had their premier performance
to a sold out crowd at London's famous Jazz Cafe and? have since
been performing to crowds of up to 30 000 at many of Europes
biggest festivals and most prestigious venues, from the main
stage at The Big Chill, Sonar or the epic Monegro festival to
Cargo in London or the The Red Club in St.Petersburg.
In April 2006 Woody released
'A Country Practice' on his Woodwurk imprint and received a unanimous
'thumbs up' from the music press, described as "Jaw-droppingly
awesome." by DMC Update, Lodown Magazine said "Honestly,
I think we finally found an album by a turntablist that is absolutely
worth listening to 'til the very last second!"
With this release under his belt
and the 'One Self 'touring commitments easing off, 2006 sees
Woody concentrate on his newly formed '10 Man Walk' project.
A collaborative effort alongside renowned Mancunian drummer Carl
Sharrocks (Twisted Nerve and 808 State) creating an innovative
live Hip-Hop DJ experience by fusing the sound of DJ and musician.
DJ Yoda "Woody
is a DJ demi-god amongst mere turntable mortals! I big up his
entire status!"
Prime Cuts (Scratch Perverts) "Woody
is without doubt one of the most creative forces in djing the
UK scene has ever produced. The man has a roll call of world
titles and deservedly so. I'm personally very interested in what
the man has to offer in the form of recorded work, if it's half
as forward thinking as his battle routines we are all in for
a real treat!!"
DJ Biznizz (THA EN4CERS / TY - Big Dada) "DJ
Woody is one of the most outstandingly creative DJs I've had
the pleasure of working with. Woody has pushed the boundries
of turntablism into the future. He is one of the funkiest and
most talented DJs the UK has ever produced.

EMMA FELINE DJ / PRODUCER
STYLES: HIP HOP, R'N'B, OLD SKOOL |

|
|
|
With
talent and determination Emma Feline has achieved international
status and recognition as a leading urban DJ. She began mixing
UK Garage in 1997 and has been playing Hip Hop and R&B since
2000. Her precise mixing, formidable selection and versatile
style works any crowd into a frenzy, and her record box has been
a passport to jet set around the world. From India to America,
Estonia to Barbados, Dubai to Ibiza, the list goes on.
Her career literally began overnight
when DJ Funky Smith asked if she wanted to stand in for him at
Bar Code in London. Even though Emma had only been shown the
ropes a week before, she went for it and was immediately offered
a weekly residency. She quickly joined forces with Lynda
Phoenix, another female DJ who shared her passion for music.
The duo made their radio debut a few weeks later after blagging
the Sunday 6am- 8am slot on pirate radio London Underground.
Within a year they were promoted to Sunday afternoon and
set up London's Most Wanted, an all girl DJ collective that became
of great interest to the media. Guest appearances with Steve
Jackson, The Dreem Teem, and Woman's hour on Radio 4, newspaper
and magazine features in The Guardian, Time Out, Evening Standard,
DJ Magazine and Touch along with T.V interviews and documentaries
on Channel 4 and MTV gave the exposure needed to secure bookings
at many high profile UK events including a residency with Twice
As Nice at The End.
During 1999 Upfront FM was the
pirate du jour, and Emma was one of their flagship DJ's. In 2002
she joined London's No 1 for Hip Hop and R&B Choice FM (owned
by Capital) to host the Wednesday night 'Raw Selection', and
in January 2004 her musical knowledge and presenting skills were
rewarded with promotion to a Sunday daytime show.
|

|
|
In
2000 London Most Wanted split and Emma began touring the USA
three times a year, building up a faithful following in New York,
Baltimore, North Carolina, Washington DC, Brooklyn, Atlanta,
Miami, Gainesville, Seattle, LA and Dallas, where she is hailed
as a major pioneer of UK Garage and 2 Step. During these trips
she would hunt down the latest Hip Hop and R&B records before
their UK release.
Not just a talented DJ, Emma
Feline turned her skills to the studio, producing and remixing
tracks under the alias of London's Most Wanted, Fierce and Funky
and Tombraider and setting up her own label 'Stereotherapy' -
The gold selling compilation 'Twice as Nice, Urban Flava's was
one of the largest selling urban compilation's ever - being expertly
mixed mixed by Emma and Steve Sutherland, and featuring her own
productions 'Indian Summer'. With her fingure on the pulse
of a vibrant UK Emma was also approached by Tense Magazine in
2003 to write her own column. The aptly named 'Decks in the City'
is bursting with candid stories, collected on her DJ travels,
and she took the concept with her when she was asked to join
Touch Magazine in 2005.
